EUROPE GIVES UGANDA 45 MILLION EUROS IN AID

The European Union said on Monday it had given Uganda 45 million euros to help develop its war-battered north, drought-prone east and poor infrastructure.

Donors fund more than a quarter of Uganda’s budget and have praised the nation for its macroeconomic stability and steady over the last two decades.

The money will go to fund agriculture projects in Uganda’s conflict-riven north and poor eastern Karamoja region, as well as to support its roads’ authority, the European Commission said in a statement from its embassy in Kampala.
