NORWAY PLACES AID EMBARGO ON MADAGASCAR


Norway said on Thursday an aid freeze slapped on Madagascar earlier this week remained in force under the new government of President Andry Rajoelina whose rise to power has drawn international disapproval.

Norway, which gives 90 million crowns in annual aid, appears to be the only nation to have publicly announced an aid freeze despite threats from others during Madagascar’s recent political crisis.
